Ultraformer MPT: What Makes This HIFU Treatment Different?

If you’ve been researching HIFU, you may have noticed that some clinics advertise simply “HIFU”, while others tell you exactly which device they use. There is a reason that distinction matters.

HIFU describes the technology. Ultraformer MPT is a specific HIFU system, developed by CLASSYS, that allows focused ultrasound to be delivered at different tissue depths and using different energy modes across the face and body.

At Skin Studio, we use Ultraformer MPT because it gives our doctors more flexibility when planning treatment. The technology matters, but so does what happens around it. Understanding your anatomy, choosing the appropriate cartridge depth, mapping the treatment properly and deciding whether HIFU is right for you in the first place all influence the result.

What Is Ultraformer MPT?

Ultraformer MPT is the latest generation of the Ultraformer HIFU system from medical aesthetics technology company CLASSYS. MPT stands for Micro-Pulsed Technology.

The system uses micro and macro focused ultrasound to deliver energy at selected depths beneath the skin. This creates controlled thermal points within the targeted tissue, triggering collagen renewal and remodelling. It can be used for facial lifting and skin tightening, as well as selected body-contouring treatments.

If you're new to the treatment itself, our guide to how HIFU tightens and lifts the skin explains the underlying science in more detail.

Is Ultraformer MPT the Same as HIFU?

Yes. Ultraformer MPT is a HIFU device. HIFU is the treatment technology, while Ultraformer MPT is the particular system being used to deliver it.

Knowing that distinction is useful because the word “HIFU” alone doesn't tell you which machine is being used, which tissue depths can be targeted or how the treatment will be planned.

Different HIFU systems have different capabilities. Even two treatments performed using Ultraformer MPT won't necessarily be identical because the doctor can change the cartridges, treatment depths, energy delivery and mapping according to the individual.

What Does Micro-Pulsed Technology Mean?

Ultraformer MPT offers several ways of delivering focused ultrasound energy, including normal mode and MP mode.

According to CLASSYS' official Ultraformer MPT information, MP mode delivers a sequence of smaller ultrasound pulses across a broader treatment zone and delivers energy 2.5 times faster than normal mode.

For the person having treatment, the important point is that the doctor has more options for adapting how energy is delivered across different areas and tissue types. Faster energy delivery can also reduce the amount of time spent treating an area, although total appointment time still depends on what you're having treated and the treatment plan being used.

MP mode isn't automatically the right choice everywhere. The mode, depth and settings should be selected according to the anatomy and treatment objective.

Why Do Ultraformer MPT Cartridges Matter?

Ultraformer MPT uses interchangeable cartridges to focus ultrasound energy at different tissue depths.

Ultraformer MPT has ten interchangeable cartridges designed for different treatment depths and applications.

For facial treatment, cartridges can target depths of 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm. Body cartridges can reach deeper tissue at 6.0 mm, 9.0 mm and 13.0 mm.

This allows different layers of tissue to be treated according to the concern. A doctor treating the lower face, for example, may use more than one cartridge depth because the anatomy and tissue change across the area. On the body, different depths can be selected depending on whether the objective is skin tightening or targeted fat reduction.

Deeper doesn't mean better. The useful depth is the one appropriate for the tissue being treated, which is why we don't approach HIFU as simply choosing an area and administering a standard number of shots.

What Areas Can Ultraformer MPT Treat?

Ultraformer MPT can be used across several areas of the face and selected areas of the body. At Skin Studio, HIFU may be considered for reduced jawline definition, early jowling, mild to moderate skin laxity, loose skin beneath the chin and reduced firmness through the face and neck.

We also use Ultraformer MPT for selected body concerns, including skin tightening and localised fat reduction. If body HIFU is what you're researching, our guide to HIFU for the stomach explains how we distinguish between loose skin, localised abdominal fat and concerns that require a different approach.

Ultraformer MPT vs Ultraformer III: What's the Difference?

Ultraformer III is the previous generation of the Ultraformer platform and remains an established HIFU system. Ultraformer MPT builds on that technology with Micro-Pulsed Technology, additional energy-delivery modes, updated handpieces and a broader range of cartridge options.

One of the most practical differences is MP mode, which CLASSYS states delivers ultrasound energy 2.5 times faster than normal mode. Ultraformer MPT also offers ten interchangeable cartridges across facial, body and specialised applications, giving practitioners more options when planning treatment.

That doesn't mean every Ultraformer MPT treatment will produce a better result than every Ultraformer III treatment. The technology provides more flexibility, but candidate selection, anatomy, cartridge choice, treatment mapping, settings and practitioner experience still determine how effectively that technology is used.

For us, that distinction is important. Choosing a clinic based solely on who owns the newest machine misses a fairly significant part of what makes a good HIFU treatment.

Is Ultraformer MPT More Comfortable?

Treatment sensation varies between people and between different areas of the face and body. You may experience warmth, tingling, short pulses or sensitivity as the ultrasound energy is delivered, and some areas naturally feel more sensitive than others.

Ultraformer MPT's faster energy delivery can reduce the amount of time spent treating certain areas, but we don't describe HIFU as painless. Your doctor plans treatment according to the area, your anatomy and the treatment objective while making the experience as comfortable as possible.

What Results Can Ultraformer MPT Produce?

Ultraformer MPT is used to improve tissue support through focused ultrasound and collagen stimulation. For the right person, this can mean a firmer jawline, improvement in early jowls, tighter skin beneath the chin or better overall skin firmness.

Results develop gradually because collagen renewal and remodelling take time. Your starting skin quality, degree of laxity, age and individual collagen response all affect what you will see and how long the result develops.

HIFU also has limits. Significant skin laxity may require a surgical approach to achieve the degree of lifting someone wants. We cover that distinction in HIFU and Facelifts Solve Different Problems, because knowing when HIFU isn't the right treatment is just as important as knowing when it is.

Why the Doctor Matters as Much as the Device

Ultraformer MPT gives the practitioner a sophisticated set of options, but it doesn't make the treatment decisions.

Your doctor still needs to determine whether HIFU is suitable, which areas should and shouldn't be treated, which cartridge depths are appropriate, how the treatment should be mapped and which energy delivery is right for the tissue.

At Skin Studio, this is why every Ultraformer MPT treatment starts with an assessment rather than a predetermined package. We look at your anatomy, skin quality and degree of laxity, understand what you want to improve and build the treatment around that.

Sometimes HIFU is exactly what we'd recommend. Sometimes another treatment will address the concern more effectively. Having more technology available is useful, but knowing when and how to use it is what makes it valuable.

Why We Use Ultraformer MPT at Skin Studio

We use Ultraformer MPT because its range of treatment modes and cartridge depths gives our doctors flexibility across both facial and body HIFU.

It allows us to work at different tissue depths and adapt treatment according to the area and concern rather than applying the same protocol to every client. It also gives us the ability to treat skin tightening and selected body-contouring concerns using one highly adaptable platform.

For us, that personalisation is the important part. The aim isn't to give everyone the maximum number of lines, the deepest cartridge or the most intensive treatment. It's to use the technology appropriately for the person in front of us.

Is Ultraformer MPT Right for You?

You don't need to arrive at Skin Studio knowing which cartridge, mode or number of treatment lines you need. Your first decision doesn't even need to be which HIFU device you want.

The useful starting point is understanding what you would like to improve.

From there, our doctors can assess your anatomy and tissue, determine whether HIFU is appropriate and build an Ultraformer MPT treatment plan around your individual needs.
